RVLT-AC50
The RVLT-AC50 unit is a robust modular unit that will:
- Preserve and prolong primary battery life
- Protect the systems on the output end.
- Combat Theft on the machines by keeping some systems running that will monitor
machines to prevent and fight crime. - Increase production by eradicating down times that are battery related.
- Due to the embedded tracking unit in the unit, it will allow and track the RVLT AC50 unit in
worst case scenario, this will be set within the mine boundaries and speeds alerts set to
ensure if the unit moves quicker than the machine should a alert should be sent to several
personal.
Description
Introduction
The Epiroc DM30 II and PV275 are blast hole drill rigs intended for open pit mining operations. With their capacity to drill holes more quickly and efficiently with a single pass, these drills reduce costs per tonne and simplify operations while boosting productivity in any mining operation.
Findings
The original design of these equipment is no longer able to comply with the more stringent safety standards and evolving mining laws. In order to comply, mining companies must implement new systems. These systems can include, among others, fire suppression, closed-circuit video surveillance, proximity detection, and battery cut-off systems. These systems must remain operational even when the machine is not producing because that is its fundamental design.
Because of this increased system operation requirement, the machine batteries have been exhausted above their permitted limits. This leads to flat batteries, which cause malfunctions and have a detrimental effect on output. If there are no skilled workers on hand to help jump start the batteries or replace them with new ones, these breakdowns can even last for hours. This is because unusual discharging can lead to chemical ageing, which damages batteries by preventing them from holding as much charge as they should.
Recommendations
Adding an auxiliary power system is the best way to prevent these needless malfunctions, but not just an auxiliary power system, but a RVLT-AC50 Series Unit. This system will maintain all necessary components operating after the machine has been turned off, such as proximity detection systems, closed-circuit television cameras, two-way radios, and fire suppression systems, until the machine is restarted. When the machine is not in use, this system will make sure that the primary batteries are not being used up.

When implemented, this technology will increase production time by reducing or eliminating battery-related breakdown on all DM30 and PV275 machines. The option to leave CCTV cameras on will also aid in lowering machine theft because the machines will now be continuously monitored. When a machine malfunctions, operators won’t have to keep it running because they can still communicate via two-way radios.
The 24/12V patented AC50 unit that powers this system will be charged using a clever algorithm.Charging units: When the machine is operating, this smart charger will deliver the necessaryenergy to essentials and charge the battery. It will then cease charging as soon as the ignition is turned off. When the machine is turned off, this charger should be able to charge the battery to a capacity that can last for more than 24+ hours, depending on the load attached (any additional additions will affect the predicted time; CCTV, PDS, and fire system are guaranteed to last for 24 hours).
